what type of volunteer OPPORTUNITIES does wgec offer students?

WGEC offers students the opportunity to volunteer at our events, and occasionally requests volunteers for administrative duties. If recruited for events, volunteers may be required to set up the event space, and clean up after an event. We also encourage volunteers to take on facilitating opportunities at events where required. For administrative-related responsibilities, volunteers may aid in organizational efforts around the office.

Why should i volunteer at wgec?

Currently, we are in the process of getting CCR approved to ensure the hard work of our volunteers is formally acknowledged and recorded by the University of Toronto. To compensate current volunteers, we award gift cards between $50 and $150 based on the amount of time a volunteer has worked with us. Additionally, our volunteers have a higher chance of gaining employment opportunities at WGEC during hiring season!

what TYPE OF employment opportunties can I EXPECT AT WGEC?

WGEC is a student-led resource centre that undergoes rehiring every August. During this time, we are excited to invite new faces to the team as executives. Aside from our formal employment opportunities, we hire throughout the year for contract-based positions (such as web assistants and graphic designers). We further regularly recruit event facilitators and speakers.

how do i APPLY TO WORK AT WGEC?

We encourage regulars visits to our website and social media pages for updates about formal employment opportunities. We make social media announcements for facilitating opportunities at WGEC via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. To receive notifications about career opportunities with us, please subscribe to our newsletter.
